The Porch

so... many of you know that my husband and i started a youth center in our town.
we have been having some difficulties with the financial aspect of it, as it is very challenging to raise all of our support while still doing everything else that we are doing in our lives!
i have been very focused lately on prayer.
plain and simple.
God knows what we need, when we need it.

i do not think that it is coincidental that out of the blue, we had a reporter from the newspaper show up at
The Porch and tell us that she wanted to do a write up on what we are doing.
i also do not think that it is coincidental that she is a christian.

she came in on friday, interviewed some of the teens, and took some pictures.
she talked to me and adam, and showed genuine interest in what we are trying to do.

this is the article that was in today's newspaper.

so today, i am thankful.
i am thankful that it did not take me conjuring something up to remind that God is at work.
He just is.
and He certainly doesn't need me!
please pray that we will stay faithful to the work that God has for us right now!

  4. This is absolutely awesome!! Praise God that He has put this on your hearts!! I pray that God would use this as a way to draw teens to the Gospel!! I have always wanted to do something like this in my own neighborhood and just might someday...We have so many children come and go from our home and I LOVE IT!!! I always pray that one day when they grow up they can look back and say to themselves, "I saw Jesus in a family years ago!" All For The Glory Of God, none for our own praise, but that our Father in heaven may be glorified...I see this is your desire too and so may God use you mightily...And may he continue to keep us "uncomfortable" in this world.

  5. Great article! So glad that the Lord chose to give you some "free publicity". Praying that this brings in more prayer support and financial support.

Enjoyed "For His Glory"'s comment. We have had MANY "extra" teens spend time with our family over the years. It is a BLESSING when they grow up, start their own families, and then let us know what an impact our family had in their lives ... especially when we hear from kids that we didn't even know we were impacting ... ones that didn't spend as much time at our house as others did.

You are planting seeds of God's love into each and every youth/child that walks through the door of the Porch.

    Blessings,

    Laurel
